The Nature Conservancy’s Global Marine Team convened a workshop in June 2009 to develop advice on best practices for marine spatial planning. Twenty practitioners with marine spatial planning experience in more than 20 regions of the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela participated in the workshop. The aim was to focus on key issues and critical points in the planning process to identify lessons learned and best practices.
Peter Taylor of Waterview Consulting participated in the workshop, compiled information, and wrote the Best Practices for Marine Spatial Planning white paper with Nature Conservancy staff.
