Product:

Salt Marshes in the Gulf of Maine: Human Impacts, Habitat Restoration, and Long-term Change Analysis

The booklet is intended as a useful tool for resource managers, lawmakers, non-government organizations, educators, and others interested in understanding salt marshes as a key element of the Gulf of Maine ecosystem.

Working with an advisory group of scientific and management experts, Peter Taylor of Waterview Consulting conducted background research, wrote the book, provided photographs, and coordinated the design, printing, and distribution.

Waterview Consulting set up a page about the book on the Gulf of Maine Council’s website, and it includes images from the book that can be downloaded freely for use in presentations and web pages. Our team built a set of online forms that people use to download the electronic (PDF) version of the book, and their names and contact info are stored in a database. The user-tracking database allow the Gulf of Maine Council to evaluate the book’s importance and usefulness to the target audience. The online forms also enable users to request hard copies of the book to be sent by postal mail. These requests are automatically transmitted to distribution offices.

Update (December 2010): Drawing from the user-tracking database, the Council has initiated a survey of people who have downloaded the book since its release in 2008. The Council is analyzing the survey results to determine the effectiveness of the publication.
